A city break to Gothenburg , Sweeden's second city, will be as relaxing or busy as you choose to make it. With its expanse parkland and clean streets you´ll be forgiven for forgetting that you´re in a city at all. If its a gastronomic city break that you´re looking for then a Gothenburg city break will not disappoint, with over 150 cafés and 500 restaurants you certainly be spoilt for choice.
Bursting with culture the cities 18 museums, 25 theatres and world famous opera house will keep you busy during you city break to Gothenburg.
Throughout the year you may be lucky enough to catch one of the many events taking place in the city from the international film festival and horse shows to carnivals and music festivals. In the run up to Xmas, the Christmas market in Gothenburg is a must see with 60+ stalls and outdoor ice rink. Outdoor stalls sell Swedish handicrafts, smoked sausages and a wide range of other gifts. Be sure to try the glögg, a mulled wine that will keep you warm as you stroll round the market.
Getting around. The excellent transport links will make your city break to Gothenburg run smoothly. Trams, buses, ferries and taxis are plentiful throughout the city. Day passes can be bought on board the buses, trams or ferries and at a cost of only SEK25 for adults and SEK12.50 for children making it the cheapest way to get around.
There are 2 airports Gothenburg City (12kms away) and Gothenburg Landvetter (25kms away) both have bus and taxi links into the city.
