Bohemian Rhapsody: Travel Guide

Bohemian Rhapsody: Holiday Guide

Raise your hand if you feel personally affected by the film Bohemian Rhapsody. What an emotional rollercoaster! We are fully on board the Queen mania train and we have a feeling it’s not going anywhere any time soon – the perfect time to create a travel inspiration guide with all the vibes from our new favourite movie. We just want to go on rock’n’roll tours, with the same flamboyance and elegance of Mr Mercury himself.

Montreux, Switzerland

The very location where Queen bought their Mountain Recording Studio and Freddie Mercury learned to find “peace and soul” proceeding to record their final album “Made in Heaven” in this location. Nowadays, you will find his bronze statue memorial overlooking the waterfront and is still a prime location for Mercury fans everywhere to connect with their hero.

It’s no wonder why they came here to relax, with the beautiful Lake Geneva surrounded by fabulous views of the alps -we’d fancy a wood cabin here to disconnect for a while. Famous for its Jazz Festival every July, this would be the perfect time to visit. Great music, stunning views and the crisp fresh air of the mountains.

Mumbai, India

Born in Zanzibar, Mercury then attended boarding school in Mumbai and spent a lot of his early life in India. We can imagine that with all the flavours, colours and festivals surrounding him, this would have heavily inspired and moulded him in his younger days.

The home to the booming Bollywood Film Industry, you will find plenty of movie magic here. Visit Elephanta and see some of India’s finest cave temples with the most exquisite cave carvings. Not to mention, the food is absolutely delicious. Local curry every night sounds like a dream come true.

West London, England

Moving from Zanzibar to Feltham, Middlesex and working in Heathrow airport waiting for his big break – we don’t need another excuse to visit London. Mercury embraced London and labelled himself a Londoner, like everyone who falls in love with the capital.

Why not take a trip to the West End and lose yourself to musical theatre? Although the smash-hit We Will Rock You has unfortunately run its course, there are so many other wonderful shows – you will be spoilt for choice.

Munich, Germany

Although he spent some rocky years here, we love Munich city and it appears that for a period Mercury felt a connection here too. Visit the capital of Bavaria, famous for its impressive beer halls that fill with people who flock here every year for Oktoberfest. It also hosts one of Germany’s biggest Christmas Markets – watch as the streets fill with fairy lights, music and eggnog.

New Orleans, America

Breaking into America is never easy but one of their most notable performances was in the New Orleans Halloween Party, performing their then new album “Jazz.” Branded America’s “Most Interesting City” come and witness this extraoridnary place filled with influences from Spain, France, Haiti and Cuba. This vibrant city is a spectacular change to the mundane. Filled with music and dance – its understandable that Queen were welcomed here.

Don’t mind us, we’re just buying tickets to see the film again. No, you’re crying.
