Bugibba Area

Bugibba is a large and popular tourist area situated on the northeast coast of Malta, close to St Pauls Bay on one side and the newer resort of Qawra on the other. It’s the largest of all the resorts in this area having the liveliest nightlife including a casino and cinema and it can even boast a bingo hall. Bugibba holidays offer something for everyone in the family and are also very popular with couples looking for a romantic break in the sun.

Qawra was developed in the 1960s but, whilst its popularity continues to grow, it still has something of a reputation as being one of the best kept secrets in Malta. It is situated on the north east coast of Malta and, together with Bugibba and St Pauls Bay, combines to form the largest tourist area on the island. Qawra holidays are popular with families, couples and water sports enthusiasts, in particular.

St Pauls Bay is the largest tourist resort in Malta and has developed over the years to also incorporate the neighbouring resorts of Qawra and Bugibba. Located on the north of the island, it’s an area which boasts some of the finest sandy beaches in Malta close by for you to enjoy on holidays to St Pauls Bay. St. Paul’s Bay started life as a small fishing village. The coastline here has some wonderful open seaviews and a vista across to St. Paul’s Island, where, according to legend, the ship carrying the Apostle is said to have been wrecked. Standing prominently on the isle is a large statue of the Apostle commemorating this legendary event.

The town itself still exudes plenty of old-fashioned charm with its pretty fishing harbour, giving people on St Pauls holidays an insight to how life was on the island. St Pauls holidays are popular with all types of holidaymaker, from solo travellers and groups to families and couples. You can quickly book a trip with On The Beach and save with our great deals!

As it continues to grow along the rocky north coast up to Salina, it’s far more tranquil and laid back than its closest neighbour, Bugibba, and also offers arguably newer and more upmarket hotel, many of which have direct beach access. You’ll find that Qawra holidays are ideally suited to anyone, regardless of who you go on holidays with!

You can buy all your souvenirs and essential items in Bugibba and there’s a large shopping centre where local craftspeople will sell lace, glassware, handwoven sweaters and jewellery but if it’s high quality and fashion you’re after, both Sliema and Malta’s capital, Valletta, are only a bus ride away and the service is frequent.

For those who appreciate local craftsmanship and culture, Ta’Qali is the place to go – a craft village which is open to the general public where you can watch local craft workers and artists making traditional Maltese items.

There’s nightlife for everybody on holidays to Bugibba including a plethora of bars, karaoke joints, nightclubs and discos for the younger crowd whilst, and for the less raucous, there are many fine restaurants to enjoy as well. Bugibba Square and its surrounding streets are the main focal points for the evening entertainment and its plentiful restaurants and cafes serve everything from the finest Maltese cuisine to good old fashioned British fayre. There are also many family oriented hotels in Bugibba which provide their own brand of sports and entertainment facilities so Bugibba holidays have something for everyone.

For those who simply enjoy people watching, you can take an evening stroll along the promenade at Bugibba where locals dressed up in their Sunday best and mingle. If you need your entertainment to be further pumped up by a notch or three, there is a nightly bus service to Malta’s entertainment ‘capital’ Paceville which run nightly during the summer and on weekends in the winter months.
