Right in the heart of the city centre the main xmas market in Budapest is located in the Vörösmarty Square.
More than 100 wooden stalls attract thousands of visitors offering local handicrafts and unique stocking fillers. Budapest Christmas Markets offer everything from woven products, candles and christmas decorations to traditional fayre. Sample the traditional kürtoskalács (sweet Hungarian pastry), roast chestnuts, mulled wine, freshly baked bread and strudel makers stalls.
Everyday music concerts in front of the Gerbeaudcafé with performances from brass brands, string orchestras, choirs and children all add to the festive atmosphere.
The main event at the Budapest xmas market in Vörösmarty Square is the opening of the Advent Calendar. Opened everyday at 5pm on advent days, the Advent Calendar reveals contemporary works of art in the windows of Gerbeaud House amidst a spectacular fanfare and twinkling light show.
